These totals represent the major items our Summer River Keeper Teams have pulled from the urban Seine River during the last 4 summer seasons.
Teams also encounter substantial quantities of aluminum cans, drink bottles, Styrofoam and various household garbage.
Did you know our River Keeper program runs every year? Every summer since 1994, SOS hires 4-5 youths aged 15-29 to work as a team tending to the urban Seine River and surrounding Greenway;
- Removing garbage and debris - Clearing log jams and trees blocking the river and trails
- Invasive species management
- Assist in SOS plantings
The Seine River would be a very different ecosystem if it weren't for the efforts of each summer's team.
