Participants will discover how St. Vital played an important role in Louis Riel’s life and how the community has embraced the Riels as their favourite family, and Louis as their favourite son.
The Trolley Bus will transport riders to visit 13 significant sites (minimal walking from trolley to some sites) near our wonderful Seine River including the Riel family river plot, numerous streets, buildings, and parks named after Riel family members, and the Riel Historic House - a National Heritage Site.
Come join us to learn about the history of Louis Riel and the important role St. Vital played in his life. Dive into the history of Riel’s parents, Louis Sr. and Julie Lagimodière and how they influenced his aspirations, beliefs and commitment to the Métis people, French language and Catholic religion.
Riders will also learn about Winnipeg’s second longest river, the beautiful urban Seine River!
All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to SOS to help preserve, protect, enhance, restore and repair the Seine River and surrounding greenway.
